Our book produced by our researchers on the history of "The Old Mylor Bootmaker's Shop, Mylor" was released on Sunday 20th May 2012 at the Bootmaker's Shop in Sherry Park, next to the Mylor oval. MHS President, Jane Goldsmith, introduced special guest Dr. Ann Herraman of the Mt. Lofty and Districts Historical Society, who addressed those present at 2pm.
The partly restored Bootmaker’s Shop was inspected by about 100 visitors, with 50-60 staying for Ann Herraman's presentation. Janet Davill created many excellent information sheets to interest the visitors, and also prepared the display of artefacts from the archaeological excavation of the site.
Book sales reached 44 copies. A fabulous start to our 2012 fundraising activities. The next event in our calendar is the Art Exhibition and Photographic Competition to be held in the Mylor Hall on the weekend of October 26th-27th 2012.
