With French lime supply delays and the Christmas break over, January brought progress on repairing the northern wall of the Mylor Bootmaker's shop. Staff from Heritage Stone Restorations erected formwork and commenced the rebuild towards the end of January. On Tuesday 14th HSR chaps "boxed up" the next stage and Dave from HSR instructed the trainees.
The keen team included Phil Davill, Richard Williams and Peter Goldsmith. Dave demonstrated the process of mixing lime mortar, layering the mortar and rocks on top of the wall. They reached the top of the formwork after 5 loads of mortar (good on yer Phil), and 20 buckets of rocks, by noon.
Supporters included Scott Rickards (timber floor), Lesley Ewing, Jane Goldsmith & Sue Laundy, (morning tea) and Peter Holderness (supporter).
